The illuminated Mihrab project is a work of passion and vision based around contemporary elements to inspire the generations of the age. Our client wanted to completely change from the old traditional look to a new modern style of atmosphere. Many design proofs and sketches lead us to follow a path of creation which manifested into a Masterpiece! This is a Magnificent Mihrab to which pictures do no justice at all. It is an absolute must visit to get a feel of this harmonious prayer room located in the small town of Burton-on-Trent.
The fret cut screens on the base wall have been created using the cnc process in our very own workshop and looks gorgeous installed on the dark brown wall. There’s a total of 110 screens and very carefully designed to hide all the joints! The Calligraphy roundels and the large calligraphy frame have a base colour of blue and the lettering is finished in a rustic gold oil paint. All items have been fitted with colour changing LED’s providing a halo surround.
The Mihrab itself is mainly brought to beauty with the use of ‘push through’ acrylic calligraphy panels that protrude out of the base. This has a sharpening effect on the calligraphy, hence why the illumination is bright and defined. We used a special type of LED for this purpose to create the best possible aesthetics. This part of the project was very time-consuming and it was well worth the hours we put into it.
For this client we included a pair of radiator covers with removable grill fronts and some window surrounds so everything would tie in nicely. We often visit this Mihrab whenever we are working nearby. A very lucky community down in Burton-on-Trent.
