Kiswa-e-Kaaba

Kiswa-e-Kaaba

Size: Approx 5metres wide x 2.4metres tall.

Materials: Sapele hardwood finished with a satin oil and hand painted in gold.

Calligraphy: Thuluth and Kufi

As the name suggests, the calligraphy within the Mihrab arches is inspired from the Kiswa of the Kaaba (the black cloth that the Kaaba is shrouded with). Many hours of one to one meetings with our client resulted in this beautiful design and we believe it was well worth the effort.

The Mihrab and Minbar façade are both protruding slightly forward to provide an aesthetic 3d aspect.

This particular Mihrab was constructed from rough sawn sapele hardwood which was planed smooth and each individual stave (timber length) has been edge glued to make wider boards. After many hours of preparation the boards are then ready to be machined. After machining the boards are then very carefully and meticulously sanded to a final finish to allow for oil and gold paint.

The Minbar is built on a platform and has a bespoke book rest to allow for papers and books as well as attaching microphones to.

The 4 square panels half way up the Mihrab have the Blessed names of Allah SWT, Muhammad SAW and the Blessed Khulafa e Rashideen written in Kufi script. The back wall is decorated with half height sapele panels finished off with a bead trim. We also have our signature Kalima calligraphy displayed on the wall in Thuluth script.

This Mihrab and Minbar is one that will last for generations to come InshAllah.
