This Mihrab is a story of passion, love and much more! When we were invited by our client to visit their property and assess the prayer room space we were taken back by the beauty of the listed building. It has been my personal wish for a few years that I would try to replicate a Mihrab I have adored in pictures for too long. In my heart I knew this was the perfect opportunity to display my next level of passion for this work. Upon showing our client the pictures of the original Mihrab it didn’t take long for them to accept the privilege and we were totally humbled by their decision to allow us to carry out our wish at their property.

Our client wanted this to be as cost effective as possible and so after discussing many options we thought it best to use MDF for this Mihrab. The design process as you can imagine was difficult and frustrating at times. Every single pattern and calligraphy you see here is created from scratch. There are approximately 130 pieces within the dome itself! A bit similar to lego building, the progress of this project was awe inspiring as the layers of decorative panels came together, revealing a true beauty of architecture.

This Mihrab has hours and hours (and hours) of hand painting but the end result was absolutely stunning. A beautiful little gem hiding somewhere in Bradford!
